OK, having solved my LPG conversion question with thanks to Commsirac, i would like to know if i can put power steering in my 1981 VH and exactly what is involved and what parts i need.thanks
What you need is:
Power Steering Rack
Power Steering pump and brackets
Power Steering oil lines
Make sure these are for a VB-VK L6.
I think there is a minor change with the steering column. I think its the steering knuckle you change.

A lucky owner of 2 SL/E Commodores, a rare VB SL/E and a 2 tone VC SL/E. Just need a VH SL/E and have the set!
Yeah that looks ok. And as Damo said, ya need the lower section from a power steering column. There's only one bolt holding it on so it isn't real hard getting it off. Dunno how easy or hard it is removing it with the column still in the car coz I pulled my column out. The only hard thing would be it's a spline which needs to slide out, but it prolly has heaps of crap around it so ya might need to use a hammer to tap it out, but room would prolly be an issue to swing it lol.

thank you guys. hey VHPirie, with regard to your roadster, can we have a chat about it as i need some info for another project we are working on which is a fb 4 door convertible.thanks again
Yeah no probs farkamhall, but we don't really know much about convertibles. We just chopped the roof off and went from there. The VH is currently out the back on it's side coz we tried welding in bracing underneath.....but we gave up (only got an arc welder) and as soon as I pull the diff and fuel tank out we're scrapping it anyways.
There's a guy in Adelaide, can't remember his name but his business name is Click's Racing. He's done a VH convertible, u might have seen it on car DVD's (Summernats, Grunt Files etc etc). It's blue with VY SS mags (it use to be green and it was at this stage Grunt Files interviewed him on Grunt Files 2 or 3 I rekon). It's all engineered and road registered too, he was recently trying to sell it on ebay, dunno if it sold tho.
Apparently filling up the seal panels with expanding foam puts a fair bit of strength into the chassis.
But being an FB it would prolly have a seperate chassis anyways wouldn't it? If so it would be waaay easier to do the convertible conversion as strengh to the chassis won't be affected

thanks VHPirie, we have got the FB in the shop having the body strengthening done as engineer wants a box chassis and side pillar braces to prevent door sagging. Thats not too much of a problem and as soon as that is done the roof gets cut off. Our main problem is finding someone who can advise on getting a folding roof frame made up. we have tried everywhere inc custom car builders etc etc but they only seem interested in the basic 2 door units and not a full 4 door convertible. we have thought of getting a frame from an old xp or something similar and adapt it to fit so that may have to be the way to go. many thanks for your reply. appreciated.
