Hi all,
the VK varijet to weber conversion is going like a glacier. Have found that the redline adaptor plates foul on the throttle linkage and therfore have to be lifted up. You cannot grind it back otherwise you lose the ability to put the stud into the manifold and secure the whole thing down. Two weber spacers would suit and still leave clearance for a 55mm high air cleaner. Anyone got 2they would like to get rid of???????? Just about ready to go back to the stinky varijet and put up with the horrible idling etc at least I could drive it then.

You can get a spare spacer from any good carby shop for a few bucks without having to buy the full kit. I also filed off the leading edge of the adapter base without problems to the mounting bolt (see photo). I was told by the carby shop people that if you are not going to use diaphram on that side of the carby you can seperate the linkage and take it off.
I can post some photos of the finished job if you need them as the attached photo was done before I sorted the vac lines, throttle etc. I am using a falcon air filter and it fitted on with no problems.
Thanks heaps, I would love to see the pics of your hoses and accelearator linkages ( I have a new v8 cable) as well as a few different angles. Did you use one or two spacers (looks like one)? Also can you send a pic of the air filter on as well. Hope this is not too big an ask but you are a life saver.
Not being an expert in carbies by taking the diaphram off what does this mean to the function of the carby?
Thanks again

That is the accelerator pump shown on the picture. If you dont use it you will have a bad flat spot every time you hit the throttle.
Tree Cutters right. I was thinking about something else altogether. Attached are a few photos I took in the early part of the conversion. I'll take some new ones with the vac lines in place tomorrow if the weather clears. We are on a cylclone watch up here at the moment and its pretty wet and windy. cheers
Rossco....are you in Bris Vegas? I am in Brisso and the rain just keeps coming....

Hi, I am in Darwin and we are copping plenty of rain and wind at the moment. The cyclone is expected to go past us sometime in the next 12 hours. I'm busy tying things down and will get some photos done 2morro for you.
Can I ask what the height of the carby and adapter plate is from the manifold?
I am trying to work out if I can get a Impco 300A mixer on top of one of these and still close the hood?
Also looking forward to more photos when you have time.
