Probably about 80kw. If you are doing that work, you might as well get new over size valves put in. Look at having the transmission rebuilt along with the motor.

The most power I've seen from a NA 202 in recent times was 155 rwkw and that was a fairly full on motor. I think if you get the heads right 100 rwkw++ is certainly within reach for you. What's it going into? a Torana? VB?. If you were putting it in a VB I'd say better to just stick a V6 in it.

But as for the red motor 202s, Run the old time Wade 30/70 cam or the next step up that they ran at Bathurst when cam changes were allowed (call Wade they will know), heaps of compression, Cut the dividers out of the intake ports when you do your porting and run allen key head bolts on the floor of the port (old school style) with a cap where the old head bolt went in onto the head. That kind of motor would run 13's all day in a little Torana. I had a friend back in the day that rebuilt his first 202 for his LJ and it was a high 13 second car and he never did get around to cutting the dividers out of the ports. It used to wheelspin in 3rd gear, pretty impressive little car it was

All comes down to how much coin ya wanna spend and how much power you want it to have.

You should get about 85-90kw at the flywheel with that setup,

if you gunna spend the money, go for a minimum of an XU1 spec cam, contact Camtech in Sydney I know for a fact he had cammed up some mean 202's (sandrails and such), a yellaterra hi-compression head and flat top race series pistons, with a good port and polish this should get you about 100-110kw at the flywheel. Any more than that and to remain street drivable you should look at forced induction or giggle gas. I know of a VB with a red motor making a driveable 200kw with a T04 turbo.

But beef up your transmission ( if manual get a heavier clutch) as they can be a weak link.

the sky is the limit just depends how driveable you want the final result to be.

One thing to remember is the main killer of 186/202 is revs, they dont like being reved too hard, they literally come apart at the block at about cam tunnel height

if your going to the trouble of fitting new pistons, go FI
no matter how you look at it, a fully worked 202 wont get clsoe to matching the performance of a mild FI setup

    complete bull**** mate.
i ran a similar combo years ago in an LX and made 120rwhp and was good for a 16.9 with lots of wheel spin, points ignition and a mid-track misfire (yeah Laugh but at least i dont bull**** like half the heros out there) on street tyres in an LX sedan and 3.36 gears in the back. never did get it back out the drags on a proper tune though.

only difference in my setup to what this bloke wants is I ran a hydraulic cam and a 465 4brl holley instead of the triples.

tend to agree with greenfoams post RE the port mods for the headbolts.

if you want to build a 202 build it right or you will be extremly disapointed

    blue 202 + minimum bore
head acid bathed, ported, polished 308 valves and shaved for 10:1 comp
    40/80 solid cam
    msd
    extractors 2.5 inch exhaust
    1.6 rollor rockers
    465 holley
nitrous sniper kit because you will want the extra power

i would say this setup ^ would make 115>125rwkw + nitrous

    stock blue 202 (flywheel) 83kW @ 4000rpm, 231Nm @ 2400rpm....
    850rpm +/- 25 idle 2500rpm +/- 50 fast idle 6deg BTDC timing 1.5mm plug gap
    3298cc 8.8:1 compression 97octane tune 153624 firing order
    92.075 * 82.550 (bore/stroke)

start from here and with a little adjustment you can power it up nicely....
    Good Luck!!!
