Default My Old VB in Midnight Blue

This is a VB that I have in the mid 80's

It started out as a silver 253 4 speed.

Had a Creative Car kit put on it and then painted it Mighnight Blue my self.

Then rebuilt the motor (Chris Milton Motors) and put an auto in it when the 4 speed died.

Made a 110 litre drop tank and I made a twin system to go around it (see tail pipe in the photo).

I'll post some more pics when I get them scanned.

What kind of carby were you running that needed such massive welding to the manifold?

Other things done to the VB.

VK rear tail lights, cut the number plate into the lower half of the rear bumper.
VH indicators, headlights & grill. HDT air dam on the front.

    4 core radiator.

    Wheels were 15 x 7 with 235 Bridgestone tyres & gas struts.

Hand made twin system to fit around the 110 litre tank.

Engine was 30 thou rebore decked and diped block. Mild cam & lifters with new rings, bearings, heads & valves, timming chain & sproket, extractors, dizzy and full set of hoses. The bill was $3,000 for the motor rebuild. - Motor ran sweet and reved to 6000rpm with pleasure.

It was a sad day handing over the keys.

This car was traded in on the VN wagon in 1988.

I've seen it in Pt Augusta for many years after that well into the mid 90's.

Kept doing the water pumps in every 6 months - after the 3rd one and a VN test drive the VB got sacked as the main mode of transport.

Got $7,500 trade in for it in 1988.

Also the rear wheel arches were pulled out a fair bit. They were 235 15 tyres and it had plenty of room left. Had to bend the back doors so they would close.

If you look (first pic) at the point were the bumper gets to the back wheel back to the tail light is is a strange shape. bubbled out a bit.

I rolled the lip at the same time before the paint.

Yep it was a micky mouse car that went hard. Then after testing the VN wagon 5 speed - with cruise control and colt A/C and just 1 belt to worry about - it was ace.

I'd have the old VB though - it was a great car to drive and sounded just fantastic. Used to get some funny looks when putting more than 95 lts in it

This is the best rear end shot I have of the VB with the square end split exhaust out the side.

I put chrome tips on later.

Loved the rear end on the VB as a VK in the Blue & Black.

Nice spot for a photo too.
