Vc Sle 308 Help!!

g'day,
ive bought myself a vc sle 308 5.0ltr when i was in year 8.
im currently going into year 11 and ive finaly got to the stage of taking the motor out for the rebuild with me old man!
we carnt figure out whats been done to the motor.
i bought it of a bloke 3 doors down who bought it back in the 90's of some1 who had pulled the motor out and installed alot of parts!
if any1 could give me a hand in identifying what parts are from what cars that would be great!
i carnt figure out what tranny is on it. itz got a conversion plate on it, so its obviously not the origional. i carnt see any numbers on it. sept a big "C3" across the top! (its an automatic). does any1 know what this means??

the block number is: NT3437

the head number is: 87 (with a 4 ontop of the "7")

would theese be the origional block and heads!

i've only head of the ford C3 trans... dunno if it would have a ford trans in it though??

it might be a turbo 350 acturoly, the plate would be to fit the 308 cause the 350's came out on the 253.
the c3 is casted onto the main peice i havnt seen the id plate atm cause the tranny is coverd in crap!
but i am still unsure.

TH350s didn't come out on 253s. They actually came out of 308s Holdens or 350 chevs.
The engine number NT3437 means this is a replacement block on 1978/1980 VB with the factory 308s. So, its not an original 308 in your VC.

I can't help with the auto tranny. But it looks like a trimatic.

its not a tri-matic, if it were, it would have a id plate close to the gear sellector and the speedo out put is on the other side.... as sead before it looks like a turbo 350 with a adapter plate, so its probably a pre-turbo block.

Its a turbo 350 trans. The engine probably has the trimatic stud patern so someone used an adaptor plate to fit the turbo 350 box. The 308 blocks came out with either turbo 350 bolt pattern or trimatic bolt pattern. The 4 speed manual will also bolt up to a trimatic block.
