well on me HZ i had i fitted a 3.08 V8 diff under it behind a black 6 with a 5 supra box in between, all i did was to fit the v8 tailshaft, and swap over the input yoke,so you will need to go the other way.

the unis are differant. the v8s is slightly bigger.
Hey my diff is a gu4 3.08 gears, I think its only a 8 bolt can i use the yoke off a 10 bolt sal to fit my 8 bolt, the gu4 is just to get me out trouble till I get a 4 pinion LSD BORG from a VL Turbo, thanks for all the info![]()

I brought a new V8 tail-shaft and the unijoints are 30mm bigger than the 6cyl ones, the diff is a GU4 10 bolt Salisbury small the yoke was from a V8 Banjo diff, i found out that the internals of a banjo are the same as the small 10 bolt![]()

Its actually an 8 bolt, not 10 bolt. 10 bolt Salisbury are usually behind 308 powered vehicles.
GU4 means it has 3.08:1 ratio.
Also, the banjo internals aren't the same as whats in an 8 bolt, only minor components.

Yes I thought it was called an 8 bolt as well, but the guys at classic oz wreck (02 49594546) tolled me I was wrong and there is no such thing, I would like to know for sure what the correct name of the diff.Old mate said that there was the 10 bolt small and 10 bolt large and the large came out behind 308 and the 10 bolt small came out behind the 253 & 6cyl, and just the diff gears varied![]()

Let me see, the same old "10 bolts hold the diff cover on"? The 6 cylinder/253s had an 8 bolt diff, due to 8 bolts holding on the crown wheel. For a 10 bolt, it has 10 bolts holding on the crown wheel.
Even when Holden dealers that were selling diff parts called them 8 bolt and 10 bolt. I have even seen genuine GM-H publications stating the same thing.
But, believe what YOU want to believe.
