Ok so I am 31 and I bought my first commodore about 3 yrs ago, it is a 1984 VK Calais and is all original appart from the stereo, I was always a car girl and my hubby had a vh\sle but sold it as he gave up on his project. He now has the craps about this and wont help me with my girl and I know a little about cars ( change a tyre, put oil, water, petrol, where the spark plugs are etc) but I really want to learn more. I am spending a fortune at the mechanics and at the last visit was told there was a problem with the clutch and it is an Auto, am I being taken for a ride? I want to restore her to her former glory as after I first bought I had her signed by Brockyand he said she was the best original he had ever seen, 6 mnths ago she was stolen and molested and she still goes but is very sick, what do i do guys?? I am at a loss because I dont want to give up on her but I am not sure how much more I can pay toward her?
Ant advice would be fantstic and sorry about the novel, i had a lot to say!
First of all welcome to the forum.
Good to hear about another VK, is yours a 8 or 6?
And you are definitly getting taken for a ride about the clutch in auto, though he may have been referring to the torque converter expecting another "dumb female", or he was simply taking you for a ride, cant hurt to get it checked by another mechanic, im sure someone on here will be able to recommend someone up their.
And tell your hubby to pull his finger out his hmm hmm and help you, sheez even my Gf helps me with my car if i need a hand lol.
well clutch, could they be meaning inside the box like one of the clutch packs are slipping or something, how is the old girl after you got her back, bit worst for wear i take it, but yeah tafe course would be a good idea, im currently help my gf a bit more about cars and stuff,
I will post pics when I get a chance but she is a 6 and verry poor running at that! I thought about tafe but I just don't have time, with work and kids its all to much so I was hopeing 1- for a reccomendation of a good mechanic and 2-just to get out there and learn from people like you guys and try to get out to shows and also I think this will re-kindle hubby? I am keen and I reccon with the help offered on this site I will be right, thanks for makeing me feel welcome people and I hope I do not bore with all my stupid questions lots of wich are yet to come!! ;-)
