It would depend on what manifold you've got on.
But i would be getting a rebuilt quadie from suescarby (on ebay) they are simply amazing how good the quality is. Your dizzy should be fine for fuel economy, just give your car a major service, plugs/leads/coil.. oil, filters, tune. Check tyre pressures.
Also other things that can improve economy, exhaust, extractors, thermo fans. Theirs a heap of things you can do to improve economy, thats just a very basic list.
I recently replaced my carby with a rebuilt one from suescarby, i dont have exact figure yet caus i havent had to fill up yet, but i was getting around 18.33 litres/100kms... and i recon i would be around 11 atleast now. All i did was carby, oil/air/fuel filter, and an oil change, and a new clutch cable so i stop revving the crap out of it everytime.

Damn, buy a fuel injected car man!!! Holley would be suckin a fair bit. Just make sure its serviced properly. Holley carb usually just has a spacer so it should swap straight over!

    hey mate

just make sure your car is good mechanical condition..all the small things ad up eg plugs, ignition leads, etc. make sure your wheel alignment is all sweet tires are at correct pressures. doesnt sound like much but every little thing ads up in the end.

id say if your chasing better economy over power. put your standard carb on.holley's just love pumping in the juice..after all it's a 5 litre.

    good luck with it mate
the germans designed it, the aussies built it, the japs got it moving and the wogs got it dosing...

Working on a price of $1.50 a litre your fuel consumption works out at 26 litres per 100 kilometres. Something is seriously wrong with your car. On highway cycle a 308 should use around 16L per hundred k's. I would suggest looking at the condition and tune of your carby, also check the condition of your cam valve train and valve seats. The advance mechanism on the distributor can seize up. Check that the choke isn't sticking either.
