Vk throttle dropout/non response.

Ok, so i have an HQ, so i don't quite belong here, but help me please! I found my mate a sweet 85 Vk, 64,000 from new, mint. But of course, it's got it's drama, as we've just discovered. Once from a standstill, and a couple of times whilst driving at steady speed, when the throtle is pressed, the car refuses to respond at all. Motor drops to idle and won't respond for love nor money. It takes a restart to get it going again.

This has occured four times in the last three weeks, but never regularly.

Any ideas would be much appreciated. And i can handle any and all mechanical work needed, it's just that diagnosing isn't my thing :-)

What sort of motor does it have mate, 308? 202 carby? 202 EFI? Gearbox?

Then we might be able to work it out.
