    Default VK HEI Upgrade(More Problems)

Dropped the Blue motor dizzy in today into the black 202, wires all hooked up, timing right. Gave it kick and it sounds like its running on one cylinder. its only just turning over. even tried running 12V straight from the battery to rule the EST out, but iv'e just got no idea what the go is. I'm guessing there's a fair few people that have done this conversion, so does anyone know what it could be?
    cheers

Im about to do this conversion, so any advice would be great.
As for running on one cylinder, you sure you dont have the dizzy 180 degrees out, thats quite a common mistake.

yer thats a possibillity, i did it late yesterday so i wanted to get it done before dark, so today ill find TDC by hand and do it all again properly.
well its pretty simple aparently, I just followed what the thread said about "blue/black dizzy and stuff". and if it plays up, the auto electrician told me to try running 12V straight from the battery to eliminate it running through the EST.

Well aparently it is as easy as it says, just went out and did it all properly and it runs a dream. My best guess is that i had it in the wrong way lol

Good to hear, what dizzy did you use, a blue or EFI?

Also another interesting fact aobut the EST, when the temp sensor fails or really detects its to hot, it stops all spark or may let you into limp mode depending how hot it has detected. I have been stranded for hours in the middle over no where waiting for it to cool down enough so the sensor would work again, it was a faulty sensor the car really wasnt hot. Anyway, if you disconnect the wire to the sensor it thinks your car is cold and starts fine lol, but i dont think the gauge would work which could be a problem if your car has generally over-heated, but it does work as a quick diagnostic.

My dizzy, i snagged out of a blue motor. would anyone know what timing i should set it on with the vaccum advanced?
i had the exact same problem, the temp sensor was rooted and it was stuck in limp mode for a while until i figured it out.
