Anyone on here used Iridium plugs b4? They retail about $20 each, and was thinkin of gettin a set for me wagon which has a mild 173. They have a 0.6mm electrode (normal plugs are around 2.5mm), which gives better spark, require less energy, last just as long, but yeah overall burns better.

personally i think they are overkill. i'd go with the splitfire type plugs, they look just like a standard plug but have a "V" groove in the electrode. these seem to work well and aren't that expensive

just go with a good quality plug like Champion or NGKR, dont bother with the iridium. i use NGKR's in my VK
These plugs are a waste of money, they offer no improvement ion day to day cars, they just have a longer age. If your happy to leave plugs in a car for 60-80k's by all means do so. Best to just use typical standard NGK's![]()

unless your motor is workd they are a waste of money. i have a set on order atm for my VK 5ltr. only putting them in once my MSD ignition goes in.
BAD COP!! NO DONUT!!
Yeah she's worked a bit, nothing to extreme tho. I can get them for $12.50 each so thought they might be a good investment just to keep it running better. Still I'll look into the v-grooves as well...might just end up getting them.

i have those $20ea plugs in my car and it did seem to gain abit more power and my RPM even dropped a tad at cruising speeds, but i also fitted 10mm leads at the same time which was a big factor.

Unless you ahve a 10 second car they are a waste of money...
It wont change the way it runs except for the placebo effect it offers.
You WOULD NOT of gained any power and your RPM WOULD NOT of changed at all. What would have happened is your old plugs and leads would of been worn by replacing them the car was back to normal.

Possibly the irridium plugs may make financial sense if the plugs are time consuming or difficult to get at, or you mechanic bills you $100 for a tune up which only involves changing plugs on todays cars!
Performance gains, not enough for the manufacturers to use them as stock...and they would if they could boast another few kW out of the motor or economy gains. or maybe there is just too much money in charging for a fact tune up!
