    Default Some help needed.

Hi everyone, I was out working on my car today and have made a list of all the little things that i need help with fixing. Here it is-

    1. Need a new A/C switch for dash. Where can i buy these?

    2. Windscreen wipers don't work. I don't know where to start looking to fix them or what the problem is. Is there anything that commonly happens with the wipers?

    3. Lights behind speedo and guages stopped working but the other dash lights still work, could it be a blown fuse?

    4. Light in glovebox and in boot (i have a wagon) don't work, where should i look to fix the problem?

Thats pretty much all i can think of now but i'll probably find some other things tomorrow, any help with any of these would be much appreciated.

    Cheers

hey mate sounds like you got a few little problems

1 i would go to a reckers you could pick 1 up cheap

2 try the windscreen whiper motor give it a few tapes or check your fuses

3 for the lights it could be a blown fuse or it could be the globes behind the cluster

4 for the lights there i would take em out and see of they are blown

    hope this helps mate

    1. Wreckers, i have a few VK ones if their the same?

    2. Wiper stalk is a common problem to.

    3. Blown Globes?

    4. Check the switches, they can bend and get jammed (the switch is the spring bit that makes it come on when you open it)

Big m is most likely on the money though.

Does the boot light have a spring switch on it like the doors do for the interior light?

I tried pulling out the wiper motor but i can't with the tools i have at the moment, it looks to be fine now i think the problem is with the wiper stalk, is there any way i can take out the wiper stalk and pull it apart to check for any problems? I don't wanna go buy a new one and realise its not the problem.

Im not 100% sure if you could fix the wiper stalk if thats the problem, they look quite fiddly. Supercheap have new stalks for about 15 dollars from memory. If you buy one and its not the problem, you A) Have a spare stalk B) Eliminated a possible cause C) Learnt how to replace a stalk for no reason :P

I checked the tailgate and it doesn't have one lol.

Oh are they only $15, i looked on ebay and saw them for $95 lol, thats why i was thinking of trying to fix it myself, in that case i'll just see if i can find the problem if not i'll just get a new one.

    Thanks for the help.

Double check the price, but they arnt 95 bux, I thought they were 15, if their not their not much more. The 95 dollar ones on ebay will be idiot cashing in on this whole "brocky" crap.

Would of thought the tailgate had some sort of switch, I prosume its the light the comes on when you open the tail gate, and the light that comes on when you open the glove box?

I can't find a switch for the tailgate or glovebox lol, maybe i just didn't look hard enough.

Also how do i take the steering wheel off? I took of the horn bit then the nut but the wheel won't come off, i think its just stuck but is there any other nuts/ screws that need to be removed? Would some WD40 help loosen the wheel off?

Ill double check but im certain theirs a switch in the glovebox.

Steering wheels are always a bastard. Put the nut back on, half a turn or so, so when the wheel comes off it doesnt smack you in the face (*keeps quite a bout a funny brocky joke*).
You can buy a steerng wheel puller 15 bux at supercheap again, but i broke 3 of them trying to get my wheel off, no matter how much i beefed them up. Lots ot pulling smacking and wriggling eventually got it off. I suggest you find a mate with a short temper and feed him cougar and ask him to remive it, worked for me lol.

the lights in the dash - could be the dimmer? i lost all lights in my dash and it turned out to be a bad connection in the dimmer (little rolly plastic thing on dash beside steering column. lights in glove box and tailgate/ boot- if you cant find the little spring activated swith perhaps thats the problem. im sure my vh wagon had one for the tailgate and there is one in the glovebox of my vc sedan. air con switch- you can buy new ones on ebay for around $25 or go to the wreckers and wack it in your pocket on the way out. wipers- check fuse? i paid around $40-50 for a new wiper/indicator stalk

Thanks for the info mate, I was playing around with the dimmer just before they stopped working so you may have solved my problem. I'll check the tailgate and see if there is anywhere there could have been a switch.

You solved my problem mate. i took out the dimmer and gave it a good clean and fiddled with the wires now the backlights work again, i also got my air con fan to work. Whilst i was fiddling with wires i saw one of those glass fuse holders which was apart with no fuse so i put a fuse in the put it back together and air con works now. I just need to fix my windscreen wipers then shes pretty much done for the inside.

Today i took off the verajet carby and i want to take off the manifold, I unbolted the carby and took the nuts off where the manifold connects to the block but i still can't get it off. It looks like where the manifold sits on the extractors it has like joined from the rust and corrosion ect over time, I know a few people here have took motors apart and i was wondering if there is an easy method to get it off? Or is there still more bolts that need to be undone?

    Cheers

yep after many years the mainfolds can get stuck even if all the bolts are out, tyre iron works well to pry it off.
