I was wondering if anyone can tell me if a gu4 and a gu5 are the same diff with different ratios. also is the gu4 the v8 diff?
The GU4 is the V8 diff. The ratios are as follows GU4 3.08:1, GU5 3.23:1
The GU4 is the 3.08:1 ratio diff, which all our VH's have had, and they were a Salisbury 8 bolt.
The GU5 is 3.23:1 and is a Borg Warner diff.

Yes, GU4 is for both 8 bolt and 10 bolt diffs, its the RPO for 3.08:1 diff ratio.

So do you think a gu5 will handle a v8?
Get a VL turbo diff. 3.45:1, 4 pinion Borgy. That's what i'm gunna get when mine goes.
How do you tell if you have an 8 bolt or 10?
egg shape diff cover, 10 bolt diff. Rounded diff cover, 8 bolt
