Default Vc 202 hating life, help please.

    Hi,
i have a vc 202 that starts but refuses to run, it conks out as soon as it starts, i replaced the varajet carbie gasket as it was leaking, i have also replaced the fuel pump, this ran it for 10 minutes around the block, pulled it into the driveway and let it run for a bit to charge the battery which was pretty low put it into gear and it died. now it refuses to run again just like before.
    thanks in advance!

Have you checked the obvious things like plugs ,leads , points , rotor button, etc .

mate, my old vh done the same. would not idle and you had to hold the revs at around 1800-2000rpm when throwing it into drive. was a bitch at the lights. someone told me the carby was shot so i got a kit put through it and tuned it up. i still see it driving around now and then. try simply tuning the carb if you haven't already.

Maybe check the auto choke is operating correctly, check the flap on the carby throat is not stuck and that the fast idle cam is operating properly.
    Just a thought?

Check to see if it has any spark by pulling one of the sparkplug leads off and putting a screwdriver in the end of the lead, then hold the screwdriver a couple of mm away from the tip of the sparkplug while someone tries to start it. There should be a nice blue spark. If there is no spark it could be an ignition module fault . It could also be a faulty ignition switch.
