Why not just by a VL?
Dont see why you would want to molest a VK to put a crappy nissan engine in, but each to their own.

Not sure on VN brakes, id say its a possibility as they both run the same front K-Frame (early model VN's) and use same rotors etc. Or look into the VT twin piston conversion.

Someone else will be able to share more on the matter, but id say VN brakes are possible with out to much stuffing around.
Otherwise VT twin piston brakes would be the go, you can get a front set off ebay for around 500.

Because vl's are ugly and rb30 is a better motor than a 202 but anyways you're best bet are as tom said, Look for v8 front brakes or vp s2 use the same front brakes these have a larger disc and a finned front caliper. Thats the cheapest option for the front and bolt straight up. VT is the best option but require special hubs for earlier models. Cost would be around 3 or 4 times the price of v8 upgrade. Rear if your running drum brakes is go for a whole new diff with disc brakes. Mainly vk and vl (calais mainly) are your best best as vn are slightly wider and not ideal for the vk. You can convert drum to disc but there's a bit of work and it might be easier changing the whole diff.

VN v8 brakes are the same size as vl vk v8 and vl turbo. so either find a smashed vl/vk v8 or a vl turbo. the front disc is slightly larger (1 inch?) and have fins on the front caliper
