Hi new to site need info in regarding a engine conversion, ive got a 202 efi motor want to convert to a carb 308. i live in south australia does any one know any good places to get it done. cheers
I would sugest looking up what parts are needed then collecting them all and then getting a quote for the conversion. You would be best to get a complete wreck with all the bits on it. and strip it for what you need, make sure the motor is the same year as the car or newer or you can run into registration hassles as it wont meet the adr's (Australian design rules)
There's a fais bit of info in this vb-vk section hit the search button on top right of screen and see what you get most mechanics would do it for you but you'd probably have to chase up the parts yourself. If your mechanically minded its not hard to do yourself. Best bet is to find a v8 car with a rooted body and do a full swap. things like brakes and springs need to be upgraded to v8 spec to pass engineers. Also you need either vk or vl v8 to meet emission properly or upgrade a blue motor to later egr spec.
in the time it took me to write that ucwepn beat me too it![]()
as u were saying about the new engine bit wat about a 304 out of vn and trans, with that upgrade i would have to change the tail shaft and up grade suspension and brakes hey. cheers
You dont have to change hardly anything going from the holden 6 to a carby 308 not even the K frame but since you are starting with the injected 202 I'd really reccomend going with the injected 304 since running return line for the injection is one of the biggest steps in that conversion and you allready have it. I've seen a step by step thread with alot of pictures on the net somewhere about the injected conversion so have a search around and you will find that. You'll need the front brakes and springs but they bolt straight on are are almost free cheap
:O hehe I reckon go the fuel injected as well^^^, theres allot more you can legally do to it afterwards and mods are cheaper because they are more common, plus its allot more fuel efficient than the carbied job. (avoid vl V8's like the plague too). If you have a calais im pretty sure you just need to change the front brakes and swap to bigger master cylinder.
A whole early VN K-frame will bolt straight in from memory. That should have the brakes springs and the v8 rack etc. Actually does anyone actually know if their is a difference between a 6 and V8 steering rack??
Only problem you will run int useing a VN v8 is the gearbox and tailshaft. CRS and Dellow do the gearbox crossmember, not sure about the tailshaft though.
cheers will look into.
