hey people,
I have just put a new 308 in my Vh and the motor has low idle vacume but if i advance the distributer beyond spec the vacume comes up .I have put a new set of intake manifold gaskets through it and like to think i have eliminated that as a cause could it be that the cam timing is out a tooth on the timing chain as i didn't set the cam timing im thinking this could maybe be the cause. any info would be good thanks![]()

The outer ring of the harmonic balancer might have slipped so the timing mark is not in the correct place. Try taking No1 spark plug out and winding over by hand to TDC then check the mark on the balancer
Yeah check TDC first. But sounds like cam timing may be out. Did you dial in the cam???
Just a thought.have ya got a wild grind on ya cam,m8 has a corvette with a mental cam and he has all sorts of trouble gettin his headlights to come up coz of low vacuum
