Default timing on a 253

hi all.
just bought a vb sl/e 253.
she goes well but i just want to check the timing and make sure its right as im selling it and would prefer to know its all good.
i have looked everywhere and cant find the info anywyere.


anyone know how to set the timing on this engine and what to do it to?

i have the light and other tools just not sure if these are just turn the distributor or if they have a fine tune screw

Undo the retaining bolt that holds the distributor just enough so you can turn it. Remove the vacuum advance line from the distributor and block it off. Connect your timing light and point it at the timing mark at the harmonic balancer while it is running. It should be on 6 deg BTDC, if it isn't turn the distributor slowly until it is.
