    Default Speedo Reading Wrong Speed

I need help to work out why my speedo on my VB Commodore would be reading slower than im actually going. Ive put new wheels on but i found a thread on here saying to measure the total diameter of the stock wheels and the new wheels then divide the stockies by the new ones to find how much your out by. Ive done that and they're pretty much the same. Also Ive put a new instrument cluster (out of a V8 i think) in to replace the economy meter with a tacho. Could this be the problem??

if ur vb is a 6 and u put a v8 cluster in, i kno the tacho is probly different but as for the speedo.....did it start happining after you put the new wheels on? if yes then thats your prob. if u dont know, try putting your old ones back on then check if its out.

Im not sure if the kit works on the older commodores. Were the VB an electric sensor or cable drive speedo?

LOL @ Jaycar kit.... Sorry I really had to laugh, actually im still laughing

Mate changeing your wheels wil change your speed, even the widths can change it, but if the overall diameter wasnt much difference then this may not be your problem.
I cant remember if the VB had a 6cyl and a V8 speedo, but some also have a switch on the back to choose between each other.

They are cable driven and have a speedo gear inside the gearbox (on the end of the cable duh), you may need a different one to match your tyres, in which case you need to calculate which one you need and find the teeth/colour of it. If this is the case go onto oldholden.com and ask caus theres plenty of guru's there that can work that out if you give them, your tires sizes, diff ratio and gearbox.
