I am the proud owner of a VB 5 lt which i rally here in country SA. It has all the go fast goodies, but doesn't seem to stop. It has a home made pedal box with no booster, Volvo 4 Spot calipers in the front on Hiace disks. It has a Ford 9" in the rear with one tonner disk brakes on the back... I think. It also has a hydraulic handbrake. The front struts are strengthened VB with Bilsteins and monster springs.
Does anyone have a simple brake conversion they know of that will made this thing stop? I race with 7" standard commodore rims with 15" tyres. Am happy to purchase whatever pads as neccesary but need a GOOD stopping package, particularly on the front.
Cheers, Grunthos.

There is a VN/VT brake upgrade write up in 1991_VN2VN rides first page. May help you out a little.

is the master cylinder matched to the calipers? why not convert back to the holden booster and master cylinder. (VT/VX/VY) with the current rotors/calipers

Thanks guys... certainly some food for thought.
I might see what i can do with a VT setup, using the pedal box.
Cheers.
My thinking would be that the volvo 4 spot calipers are better than the vt 2 spots but need the clamping force to work properly?, maybe go with the largest disc you can fit and slotted and add braided lines and ebc tuff stuff pads (i think they're the ones 3 types available)
I also have a Commodore Rally Car. Its a VK V8 300BHP. I run the volvo 4 spot caliper front and 2 spot rears.
Braking performance is fantastic.
I run 290mm front commodore discs slotted. EBC Yellow stuff Pads
Rear is standard discs, slotted, with EBC Red stuff pads.
I did have quiet a lot of problems running the standard v8 booster with1" master cylinder. it had a low pedal and not a huge amount of stopping power.
So i changed to a VT booster and master cylinder. it transformed it to awesome. I also made my own earls braided brake lines. running off some custom hard lines.
If you need further help feel free to email at anthony.campbell@live.com.au although i dont check it every day.
Good Luck.
