Battery light means the alternator is over charging or not charging at all. You really shouldnt be running with an alternator that is over charging, it will stuff your battery, and all electrics, and has the potential to explode the battery or start a fire.
Hands down grab a new alternator and regulator. Also check nothing is shorting out coming from the alternator.
If you've got a multimeter see how much voltage your alternator is putting out.

Question VC Blows Instr. Fuse, charge light glows.

Did you ever solve this problem? My VC (4cyl) Commodore is now blowing the Instruments fuse.

Trying to work out whats actually running on this CCT?

I believe the glowing charge light is simply because the fuse has blown it is feeding back the wrong path. I saw this happen once before when I blew the Instr, fuse by mistake (Shorted a wire in the engine bay). But I don't believe the alternator is faulty or anything.

BTW Replaced the fuse and it went up again quick smart. But did note that during the few seconds before it did my fuel and temp gauge worked fine and there was no charge light on. SO what else is on this circuit?

Thumbs up Problem solved I think.. :)

Hi, no mines a manual. But it was a good guess.

I think I solved it. I moved a few wires around in the engine bay and the fault went away.

I then discovered a join someone had made that had lost it's electrical tape. I assume it was shorting against the tappet cover. I think it ran to the emissions stuff on the carby. I insulated it properly with some amalgum tape and all has been well for ages. (Fingers crossed).

Thanks for trying to help though.
