Default VB to VT Brake upgrade with pedal box.

I've been seeking information from some of you regarding a suitable brake upgrade for my 308 Rally car. It seems that the VT conversion kit is definitely the way to go. I have a few questions though and hopefully someone out there in GMH land will be able to assist me.

My rallycar runs a pedal box, to allow easy bias changes from front to rear and so on. If i upgrade, do i have to run the VT Booster and Master, or can i just run a pair of one inch masters and keep the pedal box? Do i have to run the booster??

I rally on standard 15x7 commodore rims as they are tough and are easily bent back into place after hitting rocks, stumps etc. Will the VT brake conversion still fit in these rims?

Finally, if the front brakes are upgraded, would i need to do the rears as well? I think the car has V8 discs and calipers anyway?

    What are your thoughts peoples???

    Cheers

I have the VT front setup and the vt booster and master modified in my VR. The reason i went to the Vt booster and master, is the standard booster and master is just way to small and you get a rediculously low pedal and the original booster just dosnt have enough omf to run the setup properly. The vt master(just over 1") is not that much bigger than the standard vr master(15/16"), but the vt has this "quickfil" setup, which im lead to beleive is like a larger step in the bore that quickfils the calipers, then it steps down to give you the leverage you need to get a good stop. That along with the stronger booster makes the calipers bite heaps harder and stops so much better than with the standard setup.
I supose draw your own conclusions from that. If your running a single 1" just for the front brakes, i would think that would be fine for the vt calipers and still have a good pedal. Also the Vt master will not fit older boosters, you need to fit the vt booster to use the vt master, which you will need to modify your current bracket to make it fit.

I didn upgrade the rear rotors and calipers as its on a daily driver, but i havnt had anyissues with over braking on the rears. I also had an engineer cast there eye over it and he wasnt worried about the rear bias at all.
It should fit under 15" wheels too, im running 16" alloys and theres still a fair bit of room there

The VT V6 has twin piston brakes up front, and just clears with 15inch wheels, so yes 15 inch rims will fit, unless you go for one of the bigger brakes.

    its all good
as i have the same setup on my VK club racer
..with 15" interceptor rims and std rear disk brake setup

you WILL need the VT booster/master cylinder due to the 'quickfill' valving
in it...otherwise you get a soggy pedal (and no other master cylinder...Holden
1" on Vks or race like Tilton works the same way)

I would suggest you go a complete booster/master cylinder kit for the car..they are available
with different firewall brackets so they are just a bolt-in and special pipe adaptors as the
pipe ends on VT are different from early girls

So by running the VT master and booster there is a good, firm pedal with little travel?

Where did you get your modded master/booster setup from and how much?. I am wanting to upgrade my VQ in the same way but I would like to have the complete VT setup and am struggling to find info on how to mount the master booster in the bay.

    Any info would be fantastic

Correct. The pedal in my car is way better than stock, is firm and has only a very short travel.
