Hi everyone
I have a friend who's looking at buying a reconditioned stage 3 yella terra head off a red 202 engine to put on his blue 202 (3.3 ltr) VK engine (i think ?) and he seems pretty sure it'l be a strait swap but some how i'm not sure they are a strait swap , so can anyone confirm wther the yella terra head will fit his engine or not .
Cheers![]()
As far as i know you can't interchange the red motor heads with the blue and black motors .
You can put a Blue/Black head on a red motor. You need to use the blue motor gasket as a template and drill holes for water galleries.
Not to sure about putting a red head on a blue motor, I doubt the advantage would be much, if any. Yes I understand a Yella Terra head is the bee's knees but its still a 9 port head compared to the 12 port head. He'd be better of spending the money freshening his head up. Also the red head wont comply with the appropriate emissions.
yeah i didn't think they'd fit with out some kind of modification being done first . The engine is in a WB holden ute but the engine originaly out of a VK (well so i was told) . The engine is still petty fresh , i think it's only done around 15000 ks since it was last rebuilt ( both the engine and cylnder head rebuilt - $1700 later) so maybe he might be better getting a cam instead then . anyways thanx for your help guy's![]()
it is possible and as stated holes will need to be drilled to suit. but there is no advantage, you be better off milling about .050" of the head, getting a mild port and polish on the inlet only then using flat top pistons and a 0.7mm gasket (ACL race series).
The blue black head has the same size valves as the yella terra stage 3 with the benifit of 12 ports instead of 9, but has a larger chamber, hence the need to mill it off
but doing this you should get about 9.5-10:1 compression which is heaps for a street car

no more VK cancer got the better of her R.I.P.
The ports and studs on a red head wont line up for the manifolds for a blue head
