Default how to remove door pins

I am in the processes of swaping all the good bits over from my calais which has rusted out, to a berlina body which i scored for $100 with very little rust

I am wanting to know how on earth do i get the doors off with without damaging anything? i got one door of the berlina body, but cause the only way i could get the bottom pin out ended up being the wrong way i managed to drive the pin into the door and destroy the frame.

any help is greatly appreciated, as i am going to have the body soda blasted in the next couple weeks, then painted inside and out. I would prefer to get the doors done at the same time so as not to fork out for 2 doses of soda blasting

The pins from the VB through to the VL are the same. Sometimes the pins are damaged at the factory when they are installed if the hinge on the door is not aligned with the hinge part on the pillar Worked at G.M.H for a number of years and bent my share ( sorry if one of them was yours ha ha ) .The pins are made of spring steel and have a groove down the middle . Most pin removal tools are a waste of money . Best to use a drill or bolt of a smaller diameter and belt them out with a hammer . The top pin is removed down through the hinge and the bottom one is removed by hitting it up through the hinge .Another reason that makes them hard to remove is that after the pins are fitted to the door ,the door is then adjusted to suit the car which involves bending the hinge which inturn jams the pin in the hinge.

    Cheers Dayvo,
the only way i could get the bottom one to move was hitting it down and then couldn't get it to move back up,

but i will keep at the way you described and hope fully it iwill work.

I was trying to think of a way to get a slide hammer in ther but havent come up with anything yet. I tried a long steel screw but it just ripped chucks of the pin out and didn't really do anything

Try giving them a good spray with CRC and let them soak overnight .If you haven'tall ready done it , try taking out the top pin first then you might be able remove the bottom pin while you get someone to give the door a bit of a wiggle.
