Hey guys
First of all hi to everyone on the forums ive just joined and hope that i can learn heaps from you guys as it seems there is a wealth of knowledge around.
Im gonna be building a VK project car and while I have a fair amount of experience with building custom cars and doing custom mods im new to my favourite of all commodores the VK.
Im currently shoppign around for a base car for the project, Im hoping that someone can shed some light on if there are any major model specific faults that i should be looking out for. Obviously being 20 odd years old rust and bushes and those sort of things will be shot but is there anything else i should look out for.
Also does anyone have any suggestions on what model in particular I should keep an eye out for.
Cheers Guys

RUST.... Mainly around the windscreen (lift the seals up and check), spare wheel well, and in the door channels, for some reason the passenger side is worse for this.
Depending on what you want to do to it, and how much work, look for a V8 one, as they have the V8 k-frame, 4wheel disc brakes, V8 springs etc.
As your norm the Calais has all the fancy electronic interior, personelly id be staying away from the electronic dash, to much trouble with them and exepnsive and hard to find replacements.
The EFI, will have the EFI tank and fuel return lines if your planning on running a modern EFI engine in your project.
Cant think of anything else atm.
rust was a problem on the early commodores (and most old holdens lol). I have a VC and its at the base of the doors, around the base of the front windscreen. Ive owned a VL and the boot was destroyed with rust (u could climb into the boot due to the hole the rust made!)
