i have a vk. im putting on 17's. i need to know asap what profile tyre i need to keep my speedo correct. i have 215/55/17 and 215/45/17 available. also which wheels drive the speedo cable so i know which profile to put on which axles
on a commodore with 17 inch rims you need a 45 series tyre, for example- 235/45/17
Bear in mind though that going to a differant size rim/tyre even with the correct size series tyre will put your dash out a few kilometres. (not much)
not too sure on the 215's but the 235/45/z17's knocked my speedo out by 3k's
maybe that will give you an idea?
Maybe a tyre fitter might know more.
a few i dont mind. what about the axle prob. which wheels drive the speedo
the speedo is driven off the mainshaft at the rear of the gear box.
if you are really worried about it the CRS and several other speedo/gauge repairers have a "fix box" which changes the speedo cable speed by a series of tiny gears, costs about 180 200 last time i checked.
As i have a bigger problem cause i changed my car to a celica 5 speed now my tripmeter reads 700m for every kilometer and now that i have changed the diff ration to 3.45:1 i will need to get it done again
