Default Wont Open 1985 VK Commodore Auto

Okay you know the small apartment box inside the car that opens the boot via a button (opposite side to the steering wheel)? well when i closed the lid and tried to open it again to press the button to open the boot........ The lid wont open

I tried placing my key in the lock, but nothing.

Does anyone know how i can fix it? All i want to do is open it.

Can you squeeze the bits on the lock? like push both the buttons in?
If you cant then it may have locked itself, so find the key (main ignition key with the rubber) and try and turn it.... Other wise you MAY be able to snap the lock out without damaging the glovebox, because its only a very brittle clip holding the lock on to the glovebox.... alternativly, go to the wreckers and practicing breaking into one, until you find a technique that works

Yes you can push the 2 side buttons in (although the left side button appears to be very loose) but it still doesnt open and im pretty sure i never locked it

What tool do i use to snap the lock out?

Id say the left button is broken. You can use a screwdriver, to try and snap the clip thats holding the lock inplace. If you snap the back off, you wont be able to close the glovebox until you get a new lock and clip though.
Also pressed the buttons in, and try and wiggle the lock side to side, whilst pulling, you may get enough free play to wiggle it out if one side is still coming out.

If u pull the ashtray out, aircon switches and cd player.....u might be able to get a screwdriver in to push the pin out, which holds the whole glovebox in. I can on mine, but I've removed a few things so not sure if it can be easilly done on a normal car......it will still be locked shut, but atleast then u should be able to break the lock and not the glovebox.

This is exactly what happened to my glove box, im guesing the lock is stuffed so i just got a flat head screw driver and wedged it out until broke off the little clip from the back, i had another lock that i put back in straight away. But be careful as you can scratch the plastic on the glovebox and also risk breaking the glovebox itself. If you want to try this way its up to you but i dont wanna be blammed for any misshaps
