lol, I will take that vac gauge any day of the week over a bloody tacho.

The further to the left it goes, the more vacuumn the engine is developing.
The further to the right it goes, the less vacuumn it develops.
(Actually, I think thats arse backwards.)

More vac = more fuel...sort of
Less Vac = less fuel...sort of

Say your clipping down the freeway on a 110kp/h and you have the needle buried to the left and it stays there. Car is not accelerating nor is it slowing down. Now, back your foot off the throttle a little bit, the needle moves a little closer to the right but you don't slow down, you just adjusted the pedal a little bit. Well guess what? Your still doing the same speed but your using less fuel. Not much, but it all adds up.

Lets say your climbing a hill in 5th at 100 and to maintain your speed you need to push the throttle down just a little more. But the needle buries itself to the left!.....But the engine didn't make a sound, it doesn't sound like it's laboring so why change? You THINK everything is normal. But the needle is buried, you've pretty much put to the carb into the powermode and it's dumping in raw fuel. Kick it back to 4th revs come up and the needle kicks back to the right and the car leisurely pulls up the hill....more fuel stays in your tank

Think of it as an early model fuel econogauge....in fact, I think when ford put it in to their falcons thats exactly what they called it.
You put you left foot in, your put your right foot in , you take your left foot out and you slide it all about!

bog stock mate i think the fact that its a wagon gives it a bit extra weight which gets the wheels to smoke AND when i put my foot down causes the petrol to waste that bit more

there is plenty of power to do it BUT i wouldnt without power steering its just risky in certain places now just to sound professional if ur doing it on a track with plenty of open space then go for gold but NEVER do it on public roads i live in kills ive nearly gone off an edge doing skids on back roads its never gonna stop me but the missus screaming SLOW DOWN does :/

Probably for the same reason that when I left the US to come home a month ago I nearly cried when I had to sell my pick-up. A Ford F-350 Dual rear wheels with a 7.3L Turbo Diesel.

No offence mate but the worst sound is the silence you have to deal with after you kill the missus being a tool on the road.

i actually found the vacuum gauge handy so i mounted an RPM gause separate on my old VB. They indicate how much is flowing though the intake manifold and in a sense how much fuel is being used.

Some people fork out some dough for a good vacuum gauge so i really reckon u should just get a SMALL rmp gauge and mounted it just off to the right on that little platform. The more gauges the better!

Perhaps she understands the laws of motion better than you and realises that hard acceleration reduces the manoeuvreability of the vehicle as well as making it difficult for people around you to anticipate/predict your movements.
