Default VK 308 what bolt pattern for the bellhousing

are all 308s the same, do the manual and the autos have the trimatic patern?

will a bell housing for a HZ 308 bold onto the VK engine?

You are correct on the manuals/trimatics have the same pattern. The bellhousing off a HZ should fit the VK no worries.

Some were turbo pattern. Nearly all were trimatic/aussie which were the same. There were a very few which had turbo400 boxes which is a different bolt pattern but that was comparitively a handfull.

i found this on another site.

All Holden 253 V8 engines are drilled and doweled with Trimatic bolt patterns as per the diagram on the right. Early carburettor Holden 308 engines were drilled and doweled with either Chevy (Turbo) or Holden (Trimatic) bolt patterns. From 1988 on when the 304 EFI engine was introduced the bolt pattern was standardised to the Chevy (Turbo) pattern.

all VK 308s(and later 304s on VLs) were drilled for Aussie pattern
    so yes you are correct

earlier Commodore 308s could be either Turbo (Chev) pattern
or Aussie...and as said all later 304EFIs are all Chev pattern
(EXCEPT VL Grp A with EFI which I am told is Aussie )

if it doesn't have a lion in the badge it not worth having
