Hi ya,
i was just wondering if anyone could help with any info on VIN plates.. ya see the car in question is a VK commodore and i'm almost but not quiet positive it used to be a police car in maybe NSW (its white) but it aint got BT-1 on the plate.. i have seen 2 positive VK ex-police cars and 1 VH these were SA and VIC and had ash trays in the front doors segmented speedos etc and even the number on the roof was still evident on the two SA also one of these two had the sale certificate (manual) with police dept. written in it with dealer stamp still in the glove box.. these cars did "not" have BT-1 stamped after the model on the plate under the bonnet i am so constantly being told is stamped on all police cars of that era instead just a blank after Model VK8VK19... the earliest i have personally seen the BT-1 code was on a VL.. so am i wrong in beliveing that it was only after 85 that BT-1 appeared on the plates? anyhow my VK is the same it has had thick wires to the roof, LSD, there are crimps in the roof guttering where the siren and light rails would have been positioned, sticker lines (rust stains) on front of bonnet and all down the sides, the police shifter, holes here and there alot of going no where wires, map reading light (calais) etc - the interior has been changed a tad including door trims but all the tell tale signs are there also im even struggling big time to find a picture of what a vk police car looked like in 85!!! Heres the plate details and thanks heaps and heaps for any help.. one other thing i reckon ex cop cars have character there hardly anymore thrashed than any other decent powered car maybe less?
