This gauge on the instrument cluster is for the air pressure for the inlet manifold.
What you could do is replace this gauge with either an ammeter for the alternator
or a gauge that measures the frequency of the AC because both of these
principles are directly related to the rate at which the engine turns.

If you take off your dash and trace the wires for the electric motor fot the kpa meter
back to its source you can then link an ammeter to the alternator making sure that
the current is run through a transformer, that way it wont blow out the E/M for
    the gauge.

The simplest way really, is to replace the VK instrument cluster with one from a VL
but that means you have to completely remove the VK I/C and rewire the whole thing
    when fitting the VL I/C.

Thats the same thing I'm doing on me VK
