Been trying all afternoon to chuck a new seal in the back of my aussie 4spd. The mangled up one which come out has a rubber outter, but the only replacements I can find have the metal outter. The rubber stuffed one goes back in ok, but can't get the new metal ones going in. I stuffed one up, and the 2nd doesn't wanna go in either.
My bro asked the mechanic at his work and he gave me a special tool to use, but still can't get it in.
It seems the hole it goes in is slightly 'out of roundness' in one spot, like the trans was once dropped or sumfin. (see pic attached).
Any ideas on how to put the thing back into shape? Oxy to heat it up and hit it maybe??

Ended up putting a slice in the outer steel piece of the seal (so it could bend in without putting the rest out of whack). Didn't think it would of worked but it's keeping the oil inside the box so for now she's all good.
When I pull the motor and box out next I'll just pull the extension housing off and grind or file it back, should be all good then.
