Unhappy No spares locally HELP

I bought a 1984 Opel Commodore Berlina 3.0litre straight six. When i realised it was smoking my mechanic opened up the engine for an overhaul and guess what now over three months later it is still sitting in his workshop because we cannot find the rings for it. There does not seem to be that many similar cars here in Zimbabwe hence nobody stocks spares, or seems to know where i can get them. What i need for now is a set of standard size rings, valve stamp seals and a head gasket. Can you assist with info on where i can find these spares, how i can pay from and get them shipped to Zimbabwe, part numbers and any relevant info to ensure i order the correct spares and do not get ripped off.

THANKS IN ADVANCE

Got any pics of it?. Ok Opel parts are the rarest parts to get hold of. Have you had a chat to Rare Spares and see what they got?. You might have to somehow find new pistons to get new rings

Ok the Opel 6 cyl is similar to the Missfire (aka Starfire) 4 cyl. The 4cyl is basically missing 2 cyl. So you should be able to source a few parts through that avenue.

Now make sure your sitting down

bad news on the head gasket front If your mechanic kept the old one it may make life easier you can get say a copper one copy cut or machined up your going to need to source one from the UK.

A complete engine gasket set may end up costing you around $1000 by the time it has been shipped from the UK to you.

My suggestion to you is start looking for some Opel forums on the net, someone might be kind enough to help you contact a parts dealer in the UK or even ship you the parts needed.

do I hear engine conversion??

best of luck
Scott
