The other week i was on a dirt road that was in a state of dis-repair. I accidently ran my car into a small chasm. No disernable damage at the time. A couple of weeks later, me front tires are starting to scrub.
After an inspection of the suspension and steering system under the front, I found the bush on the control arm to have moved about 1/8 inch, and has pushed the housing of the control arm against the shoulder of the bush. The Contol arm isn't bent or distorted in any way, i can just see marks in the bush where it used to sit.
It's in no danger of falling off as it is, I was just wondering if this is where it is suposed to sit, or if i'll need to adjust it and get i back where it was? They are change over arms about a year old. Both sides are the same, any reason why i could'nt have an alignment done with the bushes as they are?
Maybe the new bush is loose in the arm....if the old bush took too much metal out of the arm when it was pressed out it could make the new one loose...urethane ones are renown for it as they are stiffer than stock rubber bushes.....tag welding them in is always a option...thats what I did just do it in stages and cool between welds so it doesnt melt the bush too much.

Thats what i thought it might have been. I think what i thought was movement in the housing of the arm was just markings from when the bush was pressed in. So i was fortunate that it didnt actualy move atall.
Heh, the next time i ran me car after reassembling the front end, it did a head gasget, lol. The joys of motoring![]()
