First advice, plenty of straight VK's around, so instead of buying a damaged one buy a straight one, I would imagine by the time you paid to get it fixed, it would cost more then a straight one, unless you did all labour yourself. Also Roof damage is nearly always a write-off, what type of damge is done to the roof, how'd it happen and how bad is it.
Paint well most will need paint, but aslong as you get it matched properly you shouldnt have a problem, or treat the VK to a full respray.

'damage' could even just be hail damage, which wouldnt really be a big deal at all.

My point lol, you can pick a straight VK up for 300 bux, sometimes less.

    how much is he asking?
Theres a fair bit of damage widespread, so your going to have straighten it all out, then respray a vast amount of the car, you will have the hassle of matching paintand blending it all in. If your paying a professional its going to be very costly.
If its cheap enough, then it would make a good parts car, especially with the kit, but personelly I wouldnt bother to repair it. If you want a VK and have the money, then I would be starting with a straight shell. Starting with a straight shell, you eliminate repairing all damage, also not sacrificng structural intergrity, can paint it what ever colour you like and do what you want.

You could always go get some quotes on how much its going to cost to get the damaged repaired and painted, to give you some idea.
