Default Rebuilding black 202, want more power

I bought an efi black motor a while back, originally i was going to put it in my vc, but now the vk. Anyhow I've decided to rebuild it, I've pulled it all to bits, the only thing left in it at the moment is the crank shaft. I'm running on a fairly tight budget as I'm just a lowly 2nd yr apprentice. I'm wondering what parts I should buy that will offer the best possible gains. My current thoughts are that I'll just bore it out a little, fit new pistons, and a ported head.
I'm planning to leave the original crank and rods, as I understand it the rods in the black and blue motors were the same as the starfire rods everyone gets so excited about? I would love to stroke it, but thats just too damn expensive.
I have a blue head that has been worked, it will need some more work yet, and I'll get the manifolds port matched to it. I'd love to put a yella terra head on, but again, they're just too damn expensive. Theres no way I can justify spending $2500 on the head alone for a dirty old 202.
I'm not entirely sure what cam to run, maybe a dynotec stage 3, because they're cheap, and I'll get a set of roller rockers as well.
In terms of the EFI, the plan is for the camira conversion along with a jaycar digital fuel adjuster and ignition system: Digital Fuel Adjuster - Jaycar Electronics, http://tinyurl.com/cfh844.
I don't suppose any one has had anything to do with the jaycar stuff?

Thanks for reading all this dribble, any thoughts or advice you may have are appreciated. But please don't suggest an rb30 because I refuse to let another vk be bastardized with one. And as much as I'd love a V8, the p plates stuck on my car say im not allowed one.

Have a look here, Campbell in that thread aswell as most others really know there shit. Theres one troll talking shit, but theres some good info in the thread.

Keep the EFI head, they flow better then a standard blue head.
I wouldnt worry about the Jaycar system or a yella terra head, due to the cost unless your going after serious power, which will blow your budget anyway. The standard computer will respond well to modifications until you start getting serious about it. But by the sounds you just want a rebuild with a bit more get up and go.

Yeah the RB30 can go die for all I care, so sick of hearing about it.
Just to add the usual rant from me .... Are you on NO MODIFICATIONS P-plates, or just no V8, caus its not worth the hassle if your on no mods.

Well some people say don't bother with a 202, you'll never make much power with them, they make great boat anchors, then other people say sure, you can make a bit of power out of them, look at the hq racers, nearly 200hp, with a single barrell carb. Or the xu1's.
I don't think I want to get involved with multiple carbs though.
If I had all the money in the world and no plates I'd put a blown ls7 in.
I'll stick with 202 because if I want to keep driving old commodores they are the only option for me. The p plate laws here in QLD say that I cannot drive a V8, or anything with a turbo or supercharger(unless its diesel). I'm not allowed any performance modifications that require a mod plate. So that cans the idea of a V6 conversion.
The 202 stays. The blue head I have has been ported, I'm not sure how much, I'll have to pull some valves out of the EFI head and compare them. I forgot to mention before that I'd also like to build the engine so it can take a bit of boost down the track, so I can throw a turbo or something on when i get my open license. You can't tell me a 202 won't make serious power when its boosted. There was a turbo charged LJ 202 in Street machine a while back with 426hp at the bags.
I want to ditch the standard computer so I can loose the restrictive airflow meter. And if the jaycar system is as good as they say it is then I figure it must be the worth the $80. I figure with the delco computer from a camira and the jaycar set up it should help it along alright.
And whatever I do, its got to be an improvement on my tired old 202 trimatic VC.

go the delco ecu out of a vn-vp commodore/camira and use a camira wiring harness easy to tune cheap to buy and setup and easy install engine wiring is one harness with efi relay and fuel pump relay allreadt attached and helps the old 202 get off its bum a bit quicker too sure beats factory 202 efi setup

Thanks for that link to old holden Tom_1569, apart from all the integrated bullsh@t, it was a very good read. 200hp at flywheel would certainly bring a smile to my dial.
