my boot popper wont open the boot?but when the boot is open the solinoid works?dose it need adjusting? help please.
I've got the same problem.
You can adjust the activator (assuming its the same as the VK), lossen it, then slide it across. Mines are its adjusting limits and still doesnt work, yet the activator is working, and its all hooked upI just put it in the rainy day basket, I have no need to actually use it.
its like it hasnt got enough power coz when i press button with boot closed the interior light dims? also when i got the car it wouldnt start took it to electricion and the dumb ass took my central locking unit out and said it was an alarm with an emobelizer and all it was just a loose starter wire it all started to hapen when this was taken out?
2 problems occur with the electric boot release
1 - Mechanical
The problem generally isnt with the solenoid but with the latch for the boot lid. Over time a notch wear in the latch mechanism and the solenoid doesnt have enough power to open the latch replace the latch and this should solve the problem.
If you cant source a new one try thoughly cleaning and lubing the old one and see if it makes a difference.
2- Electrical
The 12v Supply going to the solenoid needs a relay and better wire going to the solenoid the voltage drop is too great for it to have enough grunt to open the lock catch.
Secondly the solenoid gets a bad earth with high resistance on the bootlid to body, run an earth wire from one of the mounting screws to a good earth on the body.

thanks buddy ill try that tomorow
i find with my sle, if its too tight it will still work when boot open ie lock mechanism with finger then press button and it pops open, close the boot nothing just click click..
jsut play around with it mate....
Maybe adjust the striker plate in the boot .
there are three types of people in the world , those who can count and those who can't
Could be adjustment of the cable or a sign its not getting enough power. Im not familiar with the wiring exactly in the comm, but the power for the remote lock would come most likely from the same point as the interior light. If its dimming noticeably with just the draw of the solenoid current, it indicates a significant voltage drop near that point.
Im guessing some connections are now challenged and its struggling.
Perhaps try it with the engine running and see if the extra voltage makes any difference.
Perhaps as outlined the quickest fix here would be to run another wire to power a relay and use the existing wire as a trigger.
if the solenoid is firmly mounted, then it wont be an earth problem.
I had exactly the same type of prob on a car which i believe has the comm setup installed in it, by the time Id finished poking around it seemed to have fixed itself......so Ill never know!
Old commodores are full of earthing problems, even after a full rewire and a complete upgrade of my earthing system on my VK I still get the odd bad earth gremlin. I had to recently add a new earthing point to me system, it what happens when the body gets old. You can checkt he resistance with a multimeter to confirm a bad earth.

maybe adjust the whole car cos its a lump of crap. i h8 holdens, always will, u guys should get a life and a new car worthwhile driving that wont kill u!holdens are crusty pieces of poo
why dont you go and ask a mechanic shop why they are still in buissness? its because they made fords and magnas and if not one drove them they would be out of buissness and as for jap crap the only thing they can make are bikes.
