    Default vh performance parts

    i have a vh sl wagon with a 179 blue motor and im wondering sum p plater friendly engine mods to make the car have a bit more power

    vk efi black 202 if u want more power then a standard 202 blue n black r the same basicly..

    Get extracotrs and a new exhaust.. 5 speed gearbox.

    Converting to manual would be the best option for power. Stock holden 6 cylinder manuals have enough power to get ya into a lot of trouble.

    I think for most P platers even a 3cyl Daihatsu Handy van has enough power to get them into trouble

    I reckon the EFI 202 from a VK, convert to manual with a T5 & VL 3.45 diff would give the best bang for buck P plater car

    If u can put on a VL diff, get some diff gears, id say skyline r31 3.7 or 3.9 even 4.11 pintara

    So u are serious then lol. Anything pre VL's never even had an O2 sensor let alone a spot to put any sort of performance chip. Oh and I don't think a turbo falls under the 'P plater friendly' bit.

    Of the models you list none actually have a replaceable chip. VT, VX and VY have a re-flashable memory. VK had the Bosch J-Jetronic fuel only system which didn't even employ an o2 sensor while the the VH didn't even have a computer at all!

    In relation to the original question. I would suggest a V6 conversion would give the best bang for the buck while remaining in the sensible car category.

    While this modification is not technically legal for a red P-Plater in NSW, if you keep the exterior tidy, fit sensible size wheels, a quiet exhaust and don't drive like a f*ckwit the chances of a cop looking under the bonnet are pretty remote.
