I need help please?

Hey guys,
i've got a project vh commodore with a v8 in it i need help getting it started all i have on the dash is the battery light and it wont crank the starters fine and i've got a new battery i think it may be an ellectrical problem just for starters how many wires go to the starter motor because on the wiring plan it shows 3 and i only have 2 goin to it they are the positive cable to the battery and the violet plug wire so please help asap thanks

should be just the two wires the other is proberly the ground. wires to the alt ok? tryed taping the starter dose the batt light dim?

might be a stupid question is the positive on the starter tight ive had same problem and is the negetive nice and clean on the engine?

also can you turn the engine with your hands to make sure the starter is not locked on the ring gear?

yeh motor turns the starters not caught the wire im talkin bout comes from behind the cluster but i haven't checked the fuses yet also i get no headlights indicators nothing displays on the dash but wen u turn the key it clicks but doesn't crank

Sounds like a flat battery try charging it
