I'm sure I read somewhere that when the Sportwagon was first released it had a maximum towing capacity of 1200Kg.
If this is correct, when did they upgrade to 2300Kg?

Current series 2: 2100 tow capacity for automatics with any engine, 1600 with manual trans. I checked the brochure, still have it.

If you have a towbar fitted and just want to know what you can carry, there should be a sticker fitted (like the tyre placard) telling you the load rating of your car is.

Sometimes there are various towbar kits available for the same car, so that's why it's important to refer to the sticker

I'm looking at buying a Sportwagon at auction and will want to add a 1600kg towbar but I'm sure I read somewhere that the first Sportwagons released were only rated at a maximum 1200Kg (braked) towing capacity.
