magic use to run 15psi in his turbo VZ. the car has disappeared along with the business if that says anything.
i'd say 12psi would be safe with proper tune and intercooling. the compression is around 10.4:1 i think so not too much boost.
Whats the most psi a forced induction alloytec could handle??
More specifically the 195 high output engine?
I've seen SC go upto 9psi but not sure if the engine could handle more?

Thanks again Monaro, you offer a wealth of info on the alloytec.
When the turbo kit comes out (again) are you planning on running FI?
maybe i like the reliability of N/A. plus my car can't be tuned so the added cost of a piggy back ecu + wiring turns me off. i'll be happy with a cpr6 and maybe a slightly louder exhaust.
I believe the VE ECU can't handle postive pressure (Forced Induction) is that right ? Also wondering are there differences between VE year models as far as getting a tune done. I have a MY07 195kw V6.
Been thinking about the CPR6 manifold also and have a set of HSV GTS rear mufflers I'm going to try someday to see if they will make a little more noise.
I'm sure if VCM got the tune out for the new chip it wouldn't be an issue, we are still waiting for that though.
I was thinking FI but in all reality I wouldn't use it to its fullest potential often.
CPR6, headers, cats and a tune would make me pretty happy. I will consider a turbo when it comes out though haha.
Most decent tuners that have invested time into tuning the alloytecs will be able to do a maf tune which will return decent performance. the maf has to be retained anyway so the positive pressure isn't really a problem as the maf will read it. more then anything i think the location of the maf in the intake track of a boosted alloytec will dictate how well it runs.
yes your MY07 ve should be tunable only MY08+ that aren't.
as said the ecu can handle positive intake pressure, but bad new is that my08 and 09 vehicles wont be supported from vcm suite until 2010, due to research being used elsewhere

At last I get a break...lol
What's the difference between MY07 & MY08+ ?
Different ECU or programming ?
yes there was an ecm and bcm change to a better unit to fix a few issues they had, it was either in the 07 or 08 update, im thinking it was production update sometime during the my07's
when i tried to get a tune off an 09, it seemed the security system was blocking it read ecm

Thats really unfortunate, I thought it was going to be out by at least august this year??
they put it back to mid last year as they want to focus on dodge support.
Well thats pretty annoying.
I just sent them a message on this
VCM Suite Australasia - LS1, LS2, LS3, L76, L98, V6, Alloytec, GEN3, GEN4, HP Tuners, LS1 Edit, Commodore, Falcon, XR6, XR6 Turbo, XR8, GTP, Typhoon, F6, Territory, Tornado, VCM, Performance, Tuning, Software
Hopefully if enough people start asking might come abit faster.
don't hold your breath.
i said, date for my08 and my09, alloytec will be mid 2010, thats is the official stand from vcm from the letter they send round

Let me know what you end up doing monaro and how much it costs.
when i was at che last weekend we pulled out my ECU dale took some photos of the plugs and the barcodes on the top of the ecu.
he going to find out if he can put an MY07 model ecu into my car and tune it that way. i'll let you know how it goes. if the pinout is the same which i'd bet is unlikely otherwise the engine loom might have to be changed or modified.
you can go a piggy back ecu this will allow you to have your fuels and igntion retuned but not the cam timming.
you can go a complete aftermarket ecu but that will cost heaps custom wiring loom tuning and it probably wont run as well.
if Dale can't come through on the ECU i'm going to get a powerchip tune to tie me over till the VCM support is done.
Should have got an BF or FG lol, at least there tunes are out. I like the high revving V's more then the low inlines though so cant say I would be very happy with that purchase lol.
I guess at the same time I have much longer to do my exhaust etc. By the time I get the tune my warranty will be out anyway haha.
Monaro327 I see VCM closed the thread you started asking about support for MY08+ which I thought was a little rude of them. Seems like they don't care how many people ask, their just going to do it in their on good time.
they closed it cause i got stuck into them for putting the ford 6cyl support before the alloytec. i pointed out that commodore is almost doubling the falcon in monthly sales yet they are doing the fords first they couldn't handle it and locked the thread. on the actual hptuners forum the deleted my posts!!
Kuzman what you getting done to your exhaust? all you really need are pacies and change the rear mufflers.
Was going to go 2.5 inch all through, with HPC pacemakers, change of mid muffler and eventually hi-flow cats when the tune gets out.
I've already got the rear mufflers changed. I am very unhappy with VCM and would choose a different tuner if there was one.
