Hey guys,

I had an exhaust thread open a while back, so I thought a new one was in order as I wanted to know some opinions on a particular catback system, the pacemaker system for the VE SV6 is a 2.25inch system made from full stainless steel and it looks the bee's knees as they say.

Its available at bestmufflers for $1410, yes it is expensive but I think its worth it...

Go to: Best Mufflers Custom Exhaust Specialists

and type in "VE omega" in the search bar and its right there...

So basically, what do you think? Worth the money? Or is there anything better? Anything better for cheaper?

The features look very good, including a merge and "No-Drone" assured.

Thanks, Jon

Yeh im also very interested in peoples views of this system. At the moment im leaning towards the same setup as Tomholzy although I do not want it that loud so keen to hear any reviews on the Pacemaker system.

The stock sv6 exhaust is fairly decent in itself, its really just the rear mufflers need replacing and the hotdogs and crimp section need to be taken out.

Save the $1400 dude, you wont pick up much kw. I would spend the money on replacement cats, get extractors and mufflers/crimp section replaced.

yep, i agree... standard exhaust pretty good.

new muffler will give you a better sounding exhaust, and you can spend the remaining $1000+ on other parts.

if you plan to do engine work (cams, ecu etc), then definitely spend some cash and get the lot. but if you plan on keeping it all stock, its not worth it. $1400 is a lot of cash for a few Kw. If you are prepared to spend that much $ per Kw, may as well get a supercharger... it'll actuallty work out cheaper for the power you get.

Hey just call them up and speak to Chris (Tell him Kev with the Silver Mazda 6 sent you). He'll tell you what's best for the car.
Which is what pretty much everyone is saying here. You do not need the full system, just go with the powerflow exhaust (recommended by Chris).

Then you get the headers and a intake.

Ive been talking to a few exhaust specialists and the word is that the pacemaker 2.25 has had lots of noise issues regarding the rear mufflers... the recommendation is that the new xforce 2.25 sounds great IF you keep the stock headers/cats, however it also has noise problems if you have high flow headers/cats...

and to iterate, for everyones knowledge, the VE sv6 does not really lose much in the catback area aside from the rear mufflers, so if you fork out for an aftermarket 2.25 system no matter how 'good' it is your not going to gain much - if your that worried about it take the crimps/resonators/hotdogs out of the stock system and change the rear mufflers and save the coin...

Kye - i agree, i love the setup and the sound, but the sound(decibels) is a bit loud for me, im looking at alternative mufflers at the mo, ill keep you posted

Wow, that was surprising to hear that the Pacemaker is not worth it, my mate has a SV6 too and he has exactly what you guys have been talking about, new mufflers, take out crimp/hotdogs and add a merge, definately is much cheaper.
I might just got the Xforce 2.25 and then get some bigger tips added on...
Thanks.

haha the happy medium setup of drone/no drone and loud/too loud on the SV6's seems to be a hard one to figure out! I personally would like it a little bit louder than stock when driving round normally (but no so loud that I cant talk to rear passengers) and have it really growl when I put my foot into it :)
