    Default VE Struts

Just a quick question about aftermarket struts and coil overs.

My springs and struts are starting to get a bit sluggish, or maybe im just pushing it harder, i dunno.... but I want to fix it. Cause now its making a noise eveytime the body moves to one side. I know about the holden spring wraps we use to stop the bump noise, but i might as well upgrade from stock.

Got a quote for a Tein Sports coil over kit, $2000. not too bad i thought, 500 a coil. But I would like to know what else is out there and if there is any sponsers on here who either do a really good stut setup or one like the Teins

    Hi,,
Recently had Pedders lowered springs fitted all round ( 25mm lower) and it looks good.however after about 3000km the front strut/shock has had it from bottoming out?...........is this normal? should I have got them to fit shorter strut shock when doing springs?..they never suggested it.

    Thanks for any help.

Theres nothing wrong with the Fe2s as thats whats on the Sv6 now. They just dont seem to be up to the.....abuse i seem to give to them. Maybe its only cause its too high, i dunno.

I just wanted to know if anyone has fitted Coil overs and how they went, or just lower/ better shocks

i got mine pedders lowered and havent had any issues. been about 10,000km now. i went an inch same as you. what makes you think front shock has gone btw? (or have you received a 'safety report' from a suspension mob?)

mmm im not a fan of coilovers in ve's, been for a drive in a clubby with sports ryder springs and shocks, lowered 30 mm more than standard FE2, and it rides better and handles pretty similar to the ss i drove with coil overs.

suppose it depends on what kind of driving you do and what spring rate you ahve it setup with... but the price difference is massive between coilovers and standard style struts with performance springs and shocks

Yeah, would be great if i could try out different ones then buy want i want best. I can get a better standard setup for 600 i think, and coilovers for 2000.....

another thing, king springs dont always ride the best in VE's, ive found personally that pedders springs give a better ride. bit more expensive but worth the extra $ IMHO...

i have run Tein coilovers on my car since they were available for the VE and wouldnt go back to anything else. suit all different driving applications. dont forget the tein coilovers are more expenisve than pedders and HSD as the Teins are a rebuildable shock/strut where when the pedders and HSD get soggy and shitty you have to throw the lot away and buy all new again. Teins you dont hence why they cost a little more

sweeping broad generalisation there....depends which coilovers they were, the ride height setting, the shock setting and also the spring rate...
