Check Engine Light

My Check engine light came on first thing this morning on my 07 omega, and has stayed on for the rest of the day, The car seems to be running normaly, Can anyone suggest some checks before i go to Holden and spend more $$$ The battery in the car has been a bit sus for a while. Will Disconecting the battery reset the light?
Any help would be great..

hey mate, i went to holden and told them about the problem... they said the system required some sort of update "bullshit".. took them 2 minutes to fix the problem without getting this so called $150 update, hasnt come up since.

mine came on once when i got the fuel warning.. apparently something with the sensors.. not much help but holden checked it out a reset it.. mine was under warranty though..
