    Default X force 3" exhaust

Will this be to loud and illegal? Or under the 95 db's or something?

Pretty sure it'll be to loud.
If you want to keep it quiet under normal driving conditions, but still have a nice note when you boot it, VCM Exhaust systems are great, and from what I hear, the KPM system is too.

Yeah no chance of being legal.

Youll have to get one made up to suit your needs I imagine. Theres not much chance of any aftermarket exhaust, especially for a V8, being totally legal, but youd be able to get one made up by the above mentioned guys to be quiet in regular driving but loud when you open it up. SureFlo also do a pretty good one from what I hear.

If you just go the cat-back I cant imagine you will have any problems.
I have a Twin 3" xforce cat-back and its honestly not that loud, whether illegal or not im not sure, but my friends ricers are all WAY louder, even at idle.

There are two designs in 3 inch - medium and loud - medium should just scrape through - no chance with the loud system. Shop around though - not all workshops stock both kinds.

ummmmmmm maybe? Although they do test them quite high in the rev range (I'm thinking 4800 from memory).

Let's face it - probably not!

    Edit... just checked - it's actually 3900rpm for a V8

    V6 is 3600 if manufactured after 1995 (2000 for V8).

And it's the range from the stabilised rev value and then deceleration when the throttle is dropped until idle.

I've got a video of mine on this link with that system-
My New Car E Series GTS Build Number 007
No drone at all from mine.
And it would be close to legal if not maybe a touch over.

Pretty sure the db limit has been dropped to 88 or around there.
I have a 3" x-force system on my wagon and it would not pass an rta test, it is crazy loud.
I have also been told by my tuner that a standard exhaust on the ve will not pass inspection.

What did the Street racer cam, little bit of head work, double timing chain, heavy duty push rods work cost you if you don't mind me asking?

about $3500-$4000 for what u asked. i also put, high lift valve springs, retainers, roller rockers. other little things. pulls all the way to about 7100rpm. was worth it.

Even my guaranteed not to drone exhaust (KPM 2.5") drones, I don't believe anyone that says their exhaust doesn't drone.
