hey guys, im a new owner of a silver 06 VE omega, which i know isnt much, but being only 18 and for a first car im proud of it
im getting a bit bored of the looks of the stock body,
just wondering your opinions on bodykits, lights, wings. etc.
ive currently removed the "Commodore" and "Omega" badges
made slight modifications to the front grill, which im not too sure if i like or not,
it has an SS wing, which i want to remove and swap for a calais or senator bobtail,
anyone have any suggestions?
Cheers,
ssv tail lights
lower it
rims
boot lip spoiler
window tint
bee stub antenna
slimline number plates
congrats on the new car
plenty of things you can do!
i quite like the look of the HBDD front lip for the omega, looks similar to an SS but much more subtle. IMO thats all i would put on, and then lower it with rims. just make sure that any rims you put on are the right offset. nothing worse than rims that hide inside the wheel arches.
Hella Flush FTW!
klampy what is a HBDD front lip?
thanks guys, for wheels i was looking at VCT soprano's, mainly cause theyre practically a 5 spoke wheel, but at the same time, i also dont like the chrome, but i may be just too picky,
steve, i like the ssv lights, i think they may set it off,
do you know how much a painted bootlip spoiler would set me back?
and what springs would you recommend? i was looking at Ultralow rears, and superlow fronts, but not too sure as to how it would sit, and what i would need in the way of shocks,
klampy,
the HBD lip looks great, thats sort of what im looking for, just so it looks similar to stock, and doesnt attract too much attention,
what rims would you suggest? and springs?
I would love to see someone have a go at some custom sheet metal fabrication on the VEs. I think there could be some AMAZING looking concepts come out of that.
Possibly a touch out of budget though - is for me! hahaha
im a bit strange when it comes to what i think i commodore should look like. see, i like a car to look agressive, without looking like its trying to. in saying that, i quite like the JDM look. have a look in the forum called jdmstyletuning theres a thread for commodores. i think theres some brilliant inspiration in there.
im glad to see you worked out what hbd was. lol
you can buy an unpainted bootlip spoiler for $198 on holmart and i cant imagine paint being any more than 150
as for springs, i did ultra low rear and superlow front and it sits really well, excellent height, looks good and is much noticeably lower, no trouble on speed humps either
i also did shortened shocks, but if you're on a budget they're not a necessity i don't think
100 percent ssv tailights make it look alot better, rank that highly on your mod list
thanks guys,
aha yeah, i realised what it was after spending some time trying to find a HDBB lip, it was only for google when i realised it was supposed to be "HBD" lol
not too sure about the whole JDM look, i want it to look close to stock, but have its unique parts that makes it an individual, and also sorta change the whole "grandpas car" look it has at the moment with the hubcaps, and sitting a few extra inches higher than it should be off the ground,
Exterior wise im thinking pretty much what steve said, maybe do a few home-custom bits here and there
as for the sheet metal fabrication goes, im sure with the money it will look great, ive actually got a cert IV in Fabrication/Welding and Cert II in manufacturing & Engineering, so i can give it a shot myself if i had time, but, not too keen on it aha
thanks for the suggestions guys,
heaps appreciated
so here is the car so far,
im aware the grill looks disgusting, im just waiting for an SS one to arrive,
LOL @ the transformer badges
also why dont you pull the facia off and spray that too?
put holden badges high on your to do list..
well, i originally planned to paint that, but i came across a few issues removing buttons & dials etc.
as for holden/transformer badges, i wanted to remove the holden badge on the boot, unaware of the mounting pins, so once i had the badge removed i had 2 holes in my bootlid
so i decided on just chucking some transformer badges there as a temporary fix (:
I think what will look good if you paint all the plack plastic parts on the car to match the paint, ie door handles rear bumper diffuser, and mirrors. Not a fan of the transformers badges but it's your car so if you like it that's all that matters. Nice work so far. Are those plastic trim pieces on the dash easy to remove (just pull off?) because I'm thinking of painting mine.
take off ur muddies before u do anything else!

PHANTOM MY 9.5 SV6 manual
anyone know where i can get cheap rim and tyre packages?!
a holden badge wouldnt have been much more then a transformers badge though?
yeah mate just pull off...
mate its not that hard to pull of dude ive done it.. the buttons just pop out the only problem are the parts around the HVAC dials dont come off just tape them up you'll be fine... just make sure when u pull everything out you have it face down.. because all the little bits fall out.. if you do it and get stuck give me a PM and ill see if i can help.
wow.. that must be an early omega if it has the locating holes behind the rear lion badge.
I'm strangely not against transformers badges - but it doesn't suit silver in my opinion.
The engine cover came up nice. Keep the updates coming!
yeah 06-08.. =( mine have locating pins.. the engine cover looks nice.. lol i dont even get an engine cover because of my lpg
Odd...My 07 omega didn't have locating pins??? Clean scrape with a bit of fishing line.
lol i dunno.. thats what i was told. obviously im wrong
