do they usually have troubles? and who sells them in melbourne??
they arent advertised anymore because of copyright issues,
youre best off to buy online and have them delivered, one of the sponsors sells them but again you will need to email and ask specifically because they arent on the website
Have heard guys saying some replicer rims had cracked. Not sure how true just remember reading it in a similar thread on SC
MUNCH MUNCH LS1 4 LUNCH
you hear a lot of people saying they arent as good, but i would have that they are made in the same factory as any other aftermarket rim. as long as you dont go smashing through pot holes you wont have a problem i wouldnt think. they come with a lifetime structural warrenty anyway, that says enough to me
Some replica's have been known to crack. Me, I have had no problems. My GTS copies were actually made by BSA. My new rims I have purchased are a copy of ADV5.1's but made by well known company MHT who ironically make wheels for ADV
were is a place in melbourne that sells them?
sells the rims I bought?
yerh the gts ones
ps i was just thinking of getting
MAG WHEELS NEW VE PONTIAC GTO GXP 19 X 8 HOLDEN SSV | eBay
and powdercoating them satin black, think they will turn out alright on a white omega?
the only thing is i really wanted 20's but i cant seem to find hsv gts cheap enough
no mate. When I bought mine, I know that BSA had been pulled across the coals for making the copies. I think the outcome was they were allowed to sell what they had left but not make more or something like that.
Have you tried ebay. Also, with the black be careful on you colour choice. I went gloss because it meant that I could use normal cleaning and polishing products on the wheels. A mate of mine used the same painter (who is also a friend) and got his GTS rims painted satin and I think he regreted it. They look great and especially when clean but they somehow always look dirty.
^^^^ The maintenance issues associated with satin/matte finishes bite a lot of people. It's definitely something to consider. I can only think of one satin-friendly wax off the top of my head - it costs a mint and won't last 5 minutes on wheels. Also, any scratches or marks cannot be corrected - have to be resprayed.
^^^ Get them powdercoated then, no issues with matte/satin powdercoat here, tougher, more resistant to chips/scratches and wont pit, no maintennance differences, clean, wax or whatever as normal!
And its easy to fix scratches/marks, just touch up yourself with spray paint (black isnt hard to match)
I'd personally still be suss about waxing the satin powder coat (not that you should really need to, it's pretty tough) - a gloss wax could clog up the pores of the coating over time and screw up the finish.
Personally I've always purchased genuine wheels (GTS&Supersport) for piece of mind with warranty and quality. You always get what you pay for IMO
When I was in Melbourne last month I saw the same original GMH rims in the spare parts dept at Alan Mance Holden @ Footscray (Contact Us - Alan Mance Holden) for $800 supply only. Nearly bought them but had no way to get them home. Have since seen similar ones on ebay for the same price so keep looking or give them a call.
Hey mate there is a pic floating around on here with a replica coming apart after hitting a pothole or something, I rather not trust them as who knows where it will send your
car if one broke on you, potentially dangerous, buy genuine if you can, ebay is your best place to start for a good price bud
IF YOU BUILD IT THEY WILL COME.... STILL WAITING LOL
here: Supersports 20"
I personally wouldnt buy cheap import wheels... not worth the risk vs savings in cash.
Knockoff's by reputable brands are ok, but that's the important bit- WHO makes them.
