Hi Guys,
Had my Series 2 VE 6L for abit over a month now, have an exhaust and AFM sounds terrible, a tune is out of the question for me, so i drove today in manual mode and it sounded like it should, great actually. This being my first auto my question is if you were to drive in manual mode say 80% of the time is it going to shorten the life of the gearbox or make it work alot harder then it normally would in day to day driving?
Thanks in advance
IF YOU BUILD IT THEY WILL COME.... STILL WAITING LOL
you defeat the afm completely as it wont operate correctly.... apart from that it depends how you drive it
obviously you are reving it higher than in auto mode and decelling in gear in manual
the box SHOULD last doing this but to my knowledge it would greatly increase wear
and tear on engaging gears as it wont ease itself into the gear like in auto mode with a six speed....
i drive in manual all the time and with the extra power from mods and a tune its still going strong![]()
oh nah im not saying it will kill it or anything
im just saying id be not on full acceleration on shift up and no accel on shift down
to reduce stress and if it wasnt my car i wouldnt do it at all
just my opinion~!
True point db_notso, I wont be "going hard" all the time, just getting rid of the sound mainly, the amount AFM saves doesn't bother me that much, and
SYCO5S when you are coming o a stop a lights or something do u shift manually all the way down to 1st or let it do the last couple of gears itself?

depends, i shift down most of the time, just to hear my exhaust haha :P
unless its late at night and i dont wanna wake ppl around my area
Why is a tune out of the question?
PERFORMANCE MODS- JTG Liquid injection, Under driven pulley, Pacemaker extractors, 3" X-force system, Cold air intake, MAF Less tune 267.9 RWKW'S

Yes I know, if you get anymore manly you are in danger of making yourself pregnant!
Cant see how it would ruin the Gearbox, Sports shift is there to be used. and it does down shift / up shift automatically even in sports mode when you are going hard, or slowing down and forget to shift.
If you take it back to Holden and ask them to turn AFM off they should be able to do it no drama...
