    Default What CAI?

    Hi All,

I'm in the market for a CAI for my SSV but not sure to go OTR or not?

    Options i've been looking at:

    • VCM OTR CAI
    • KPM OTR CAI
    • Yella Terra CAI
    • AirHammer CAI
    • DUspeed OTR CAI

Just wondering what your opinions are on these? (& let me know which one you have)

    Cheers!

add duspeed to that list (i have one of these)

VCM and duspeed are the more popular ones for VE V8s

by opening my bonnet >_> *budum tsshh*

i like it, it looks good, although some ppl prefer the VCM coz it looks more 'stock' in its finish

here is a pic of the duspeed fitted to my car

well my exhaust sorta limits the amount of noise i can hear, but if its a quiet day, i can hear it taking a deep breath

You won't get a lot of induction noise from a good OTR - 'induction noise' is caused by turbulence - there isn't any in an OTR. That's not what they're for. They're designed to be efficient, not noisy. At most, you'll be able to hear the flow of air increasing - but it won't be distracting like with a pod filter and pipe.

    I like the VCM, incidentally.

Incidentally.. the KPM intake is made by VCM - it's the same unit, different sticker.

ive got a VCM on mine, looks neat n tidy, fits really well, filter is large and easily removable/washable. One thing i will say is i like the look of SYCO5S duspeed where it mounts to the TB. The VCM one is a large flimsy looking sock that i felt would suck itself in under hard throttle!! Im probs wrong its just how it looks to me and i would prefer something more solid....so im going to make something myself i think!! No induction noise whatso ever btw

The VCM OTR gets my vote, and you can get infill panels and radiator covers to suit it too, makes for a very nice finish

spend a lil extra, and get a carbon fibre one , its able to hold a bigger filter and still be the same weight as a regular duspeed

    Well... The poll has spoken!

Ordered my VCM OTR CAI this afternoon :-)

Got it for a good price direct from them and they have dispatched already so i get it tomorrow! Hopefully get that installed on weekend and then look for a good tuning shop in Adelaide. (KPM want $990 to tune only)
