Default Stock SS Muffler on Omega

    Hi Gents,

I have an SIDI 3.0L Omega with the Twin Exhaust... A mate is giving me his stock muffler from his VE SS... Says it just bolts on to the current exhaust system and will give me the quad chrome tips. Will this give me any difference in noise?

I've searched but only found results where the whole exhaust system is replaced, not just the muffler.

    Thanks.

Making a few cosmetic mods... The chrome tips will look good and was just wondering if there would be a by-product of the cosmetic change. Cheers though.

It will look heaps better than the stock exhaust!
You'll possibly notice a light growl in the low rev range but overall it will sound the same.
Just make sure that your mate has the same build car (i.e. a ute exhaust won't fit on a sedan and vise versa)
Some people say less talk more action, i say more torque less traction.

Did this yesterday. There is a slight "growl" in the low revs... Say between 1000 and 3000rpm. So it growls during normal acceleration until you put your foot down and the engine whine takes over. Does what I want though, which was just to make it look good!

Did this not too long ago... HSV/SS mufflers on the 3L SIDI. Love it.
Not as loud as a sports exhaust (no where near it actually.... my other car has just a 'sports muffler' and even that is louder), but loud enough to be able to hear it in the car.
Slight drone at 2500rpm, but even that is quieter than a sports muffler. Otherwise you can barely hear it... just enough to be able to hear the engine revs, whereas before you couldnt hear anything really.
Looks 100 times better... see for yourself:

real easy to do, 2 bolts on exhaust itself....

...and unhook rubber gromet at rear

15min in total for both sides swapped.

there isnt a lot, but yeah.... minor drone at 2500rpm. plus i have a wagon so that doesnt help either.
but be arent talking annoying levels here, still quieter than a sports exhaust.
